In its 13th year, the festival’s artistic directorship passes from its founder, Mirella Weingarten, to the percussionist and composer Pascal Viglino for the first time. Born in the canton of Valais and resident in Bern, the internationally trained musician will intensify collaboration among the artists in Werdenberg and strengthen contacts with festival visitors and the population at large. The Festival Schlossmediale is furthermore to be anchored in the Swiss music and art landscape as a leading venue for transdisciplinary creativity, where music is brought together with art and other forms of expression. Spaces for interdisciplinarity and collaborative creative processes will be opened up at the Schlossmediale by means of the MediaLab and the art residency programme as well as through the educational project with schools and the Soundwalks commissioned by the festival.
